MEMOSIO

Project Info:

MEMOSIO is a hybrid physical-digital project management product that aims to reduce the cognitive overload generated by digital interfaces, that rely on cognition instead of action, for freelancers, that work from home, and enhance their working experience. MEMOSIO consists of a storage unit with discs, a controller, and a user interface on the computer. We've explored intuitive interaction by user testing with various printed models. After defining all interactions based on these tests, we've gone through another round of user test to finetune these interactions. The controller (on which you place the disc) has various stages with different feedback, so you can clearly feel what you do. From this project, I've learned a lot about user testing, and creating modular prototypes for specific features, which we're necessary for the user tests. Additionally, I've needed to improve my mechanical design skills to create relatively complex mechanisms that we're required for the physical feedback. The controller partially consists of a rotary encoder, which is on top of a sliding platform, and can also be moved from side to side to actuate buttons. This requires a platform that can move in multiple directions, yet needs to be stable enough (that stability being the main challenge), which was achieved in part by using various strong neodymium magnets.
